This painting has been rolling around in my head ever since I took the photo a few years ago.

The next painting is a new technique for me. It took me a while to work out how I was going to do this. The idea started with a painting I saw at a bistro in Paris. The painting I saw had a white gesso ground and the edges were left raw with the tacks showing. I am using a raw rough linen and priming it (sizing, not gesso) so that I could leave some of the linen color showing. I have to credit using this linen to an artist friend Davis Tomasovsky of Ocean Springs/New Orleans. The painting shown here is wrapped but I have done several so that the copper tacks are left showing on the side and the edges are left raw. A bit labor intensive and more costly too!I like the look. I hope others will too.
